Im watching this with interest. Songh is currently up at the equine vets under going a scintigraphy scan as the more she has been worked the worse her behaviour has become. Also she then showed up slightly lame on her left hind by not bringing it through properly when lunged or working on a circle etc. TH im really interested in the horses John had in. What were they doing for him to know what it was? Songh has not been the same since i got her home, i went to try her out twice and she passed a 5 stage vetting. I have said all along that something has not been right from the first time i got on her at home she just reared and have gone through sports massage, teeth, saddle checks, ovary scans and many calmers, nothing has had an effect. She bucks everytime when asked for canter and on the right rein her quarters swing in and she head tilts to the right constantly although this is sometimes better than others. Im not saying she has KS but im really hoping they find something as im at my wits end with her and her behaviour and the sweet little horse i went to try out has just gone the complete opposite. Sorry for hijacking the post Faberge but i think this may have some relevance. Faberge what were Molly's symptoms and BAHW i know Tehya reared but was there anything else?

KER - sorry to hear your post Sadly so much of it sounds like Tehya BUT her KS has never been confirmed by a vet. Our chiropractor is convinced she has it and, with our experience of Tehya at the vet , we've been in no hurry to get it confirmed as we won't ride her anyway. She too passed a 5 stage vetting (but we suspect that the vet was dodgy). She has a "lazy" leg which never quite tracks up properly - not lame but just not even. It's her white fetlock so makes it more obvious. She is awkward for the farrier on her hind legs which is apparently a bit like us trying to lie on the floor and raise a leg when we've got a bad back - ouch! She had all sorts of tests when we were dealing with the colic (including a pregnancy test) and some of these helped eliminate reasons for pain with the riding. When we were trying to ride her (when we thought the rearing was behavioural not pain related) we always lunged her first, then mounted slowly and carefully lowering into the saddle oh so carefully. She'd walk a bit choppy and I only ever rode her at trot once after I bought her - she obviously wasn't happy. We'd had her over a year when the back lady came for a second time and checked her having seen her lunged and talked for ages with DM about all the problems and what she could feel. She thinks Tehya's KS is minimal but directly beneath the rider's seatbones and tehya being sensitive (a drama queen!) feels it very strongly. By lunging her first and mounting her like a youngster we helped her to warm up and stretch and avoided pain (and thus the rearing) but the longer we rode the more uncomfortable she became. Quite amazing she tolerated it really bless her

This is where i am struggling to know what is bad behaviour and what is possibly pain related. As the rearing when getting on stopped after a week or so of her arriving but now the rearing when getting schooled has become worse, ie if we trot a couple of circles and she is trying to gawp at something and i ask for her attention we get the tail swishing and a bit of a strop, if i try and keep her attention again the next time then she stops and rears. However i took her out for a lesson at an indoor school and there was no bad behviour but because she was being good the tracking up on the left hind was more noticeable and so was the head tilt, also the quarters swinging in and the bucking in right rein canter. She has been fine with her sports massage and not had a problem with pressure from that on her back but she too is overly sensitive and seems to feel every little thing, she doesnt even like tiny little scabs being picked off But she had to have a light sedation yesterday at the vets as she was pulling me all over the place even when trotting up. In a way im hoping they find something as it would explain a lot but at the same time i would rather they dont and maybe i can send her somewhere on schooling livery if it is just an attitude thing. But then that still doesnt explain what happened to the delightful horse i went to try out that hadnt been sat on for a week compared to the one i have where my trainer doesnt even want me to get on without lunging her first and often referrs to her as neurotic

No problem the more info everyone has the easier to identify
molly bucked going into canter on left rein which over 3 yrs progressed to rearing. she always canted on 3 paths with her quaters swining out. She did a goose step when coming from canter down to trot. it progressed to rearing when getting on and slight lameness in trot.
8 back people couldnt figure it out.
we did get exciting news 2 weeks ago that in 2 yrs she may go back under saddle as her spine will fuse in the new position
molly also had othe symtoms that im not sure are related but he canters around her stable bucks when standing at the door and head bobs this may just be mollys nature but we never knew her with out Ks so we have nothing to judge her on.
Ker i hope it come back as a good result and no ks

The scintigraphy came back saying she has 'hot spots' in both her stifles and in her pelvis. Being the stifles were xrayed when i was there on Monday i know they didnt show anything apart from the slight abnormality on the left. The vet however is going to medicate both of them and he is also going to do an ultrasound on the pelvis to try and find what is going on there. This cant be done until tomorrow when she is no longer radio active Will keep you posted but there is nothing wrong in her spine or her neck its all in her back end

| Hope whatever you find you manage to get it fixed. Is it poss that the girl you tried was drugged as I suspect mine was (vet reckons local anaesthetic in back which would not show up on blood test 48hrs later...)?
